Dr. Paul Jay Hwin
A former patient of the practice himself, Paul is the Principal dentist at Sapphire Dentistry and strives to uphold the high standards the clinic has always set whilst aiming to constantly improve even further. He took over the clinic in 2016 from his uncle who was also a highly respected member of the Doncaster community and has been building further on the great work his uncle had achieved over the decades.Having graduated Dux from Essendon Grammar School in his early years, Paul went on to complete his Bachelor of Dental Science (Honours) at the prestigious University of Melbourne. Being the high achiever he is he was further awarded the Pierre Fauchard Academy Foundation Student Award which is given to a student of excellence as nominated by the Head of Dental School on behalf of the Australasian Section of the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Whilst building himself to be a highly capable general dentist, Paul has a particular interest and further training in Cosmetic dentistry including Veneers, Onlays and Crowns as well as in Early Intervention Orthodontics where he detects and treats jaw related dental issues in their early stages before they lead to more serious health issues.
Paul is committed to continuing the values and work ethic patients have come to expect from our family-orientated practice and gets the most enjoyment from developing meaningful relationships with his patients and appreciates the importance of oral health to their general health and well-being. Being interested in all aspects of dentistry, he understands that the needs of each individual are unique and aims to tailor treatment plans accordingly. He strives to make patients comfortable and at ease in the dental chair whilst working to achieve the best possible treatment outcomes.
In his spare time, you’ll often find him spending time with family and friends at Melbourne’s newest cafes and restaurants as well as avidly pursuing his interests in gadgets and all things technology. Paul is also a member of the Rotary Club of Doncaster, where he contributes to the continuous development and improvement of various projects in the wider Doncaster community.
